QUALIFICATIONS:

I joined the Department in September 2003. I obtained a BA (Economics) and MA (Economics) at the universities of Leicester and Essex and studied for my PhD with Professor David Greenaway, Dr Peter Wright and Robert Hine at the University of Nottingham.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

My main research covers empirical international trade, environmental, development and labour economics under the broad umbrella of the economics of globalisation.

Specific topics include:

Economics of Globalisation.
Trade, the environment and industrial restructuring.
Wages, risk, jobs and the environment and the value of statistical life.
Geographical specialisation in the UK and the EU: patterns, trends and determinants.
Conceptual, methodological and empirical analysis of intra-industry trade.
Empirical estimation of vertical and horizontal vertical intra-industry trade.
Link between trade structure and labour market adjustment.
Empirical testing of EU-ASEAN trade patterns, multinationals and foreign direct investment.
Sectoral and occupational mobility in the UK using microeconometrics.
Economics of immigration.

I am currently involved in a related, Leverhulme Trust research projects in the general area of "Globalisation and the Environment" with Matthew Cole at the University of Birmingham.
